Version Saver for Google Docs™ (“Version Saver”, “the add-on”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a Google Workspace add-on developed by Cosmic Publications, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information the add-on accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Version Saver is designed to help users save and restore document versions inside Google Docs while keeping all files and content within the user’s own Google Drive account.
We do not collect, store, sell, or share your document content.
Version Saver interacts only with the Google account you are actively using while running the add-on. The add-on accesses limited information necessary for functionality:
The add-on accesses the active Google Doc only when you:
Save a Version
Restore a Version
View document statistics
This access is required to copy the document’s content and formatting into a recoverable version file.
Your document content is never transmitted to external servers and remains entirely inside Google’s infrastructure.
Version Saver creates new Google Docs files inside your Google Drive to store saved versions. The add-on can:
Create version documents
Restore content from version documents
Delete version documents (when you choose to delete them)
The add-on only manages files that it creates.
The add-on may access your Google account email address only to:
Identify the creator of a version
Support collaboration features
Display version ownership inside the sidebar
Your email address is not stored externally, shared, or used for marketing.
Version Saver does not:
Store document content outside Google
Send your files to external databases
Sell user data
Analyze your writing
Track browsing activity
Create user profiles
Use your data for advertising
All document data remains inside Google Docs and Google Drive under your control.
Version Saver does not transmit document contents to any third-party service.
If payment verification or licensing is used, only minimal account identifiers required to confirm subscription status may be processed, and no document content is included.
Version Saver does not maintain independent storage servers. Instead:
Version files are stored in your Google Drive
Metadata (such as version names and timestamps) is stored within Google Workspace document properties
All data remains under the permissions of your Google account
If you uninstall the add-on, your existing version files remain in your Google Drive unless you manually delete them.
Because all documents and versions are stored within Google’s infrastructure, your files are protected by Google’s existing security systems, authentication, and access controls.
Version Saver does not bypass Google permissions and cannot access documents you do not already have permission to open.
When a document is shared in Google Docs:
Collaborators with access to the document may see version entries
Version files remain owned by the user who created them
Deletion permissions follow add-on settings and Google Drive permissions
Version Saver does not grant additional access to your documents beyond what you explicitly share in Google Docs.
You remain in full control of your data. You can:
Delete version files from Google Drive
Remove the Version Saver folder
Uninstall the add-on at any time
Revoke permissions through your Google Account settings
Uninstalling the add-on does not delete your saved versions.
Version Saver is a productivity tool intended for general users, educators, and professionals. The add-on does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements or feature updates. When changes are made, the updated date at the top of this page will be revised.
Continued use of the add-on after updates indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
